THE ADMIRALTY AND OIL. AUCKLAND THE NaVAL BASE. NEW ZEALAND SUPPLIES WANTED. The importance of the oil industry in Taranaki has been further emphasised by a visit to New Plymouth of Engineer Lieutenant H. Ponsonby Mackenzie, R.N., the Admiralty's coal insp^ector for Australasia, with headquarters at Westport. The visitor inspected the oilworks in company "with the chairman of the Advisory Board, Mr. C. Carter, and he subsequently expressed surprise ;at the extent of the development that had taken place during the past year. Naturally the Admiralty were desirous of obtaining supplies in tho Dominion if they could be obtained.
