MAORI YOUTH INFECTED
HASTINGS, July 15. Tho ru raour was current this afternoon" that a cmso of smallpox had been detected among the students at the Maori Agricultural College at Bridge Pa. about nine railc s from Hastings. At tho request of tho Health Department, Dr Barcroft left for tho College this •afternoon to make an examination, and ciwlares the rase to bo one of smallpox. Ibo patient is a youth of seventeen Fie arrived at the College from the north on the 11th inst., and has well-marked evidence of recent infection. A number of other students «re showing symptoms, but the doctor is unable to form a. definite opinion regarding them until to-morrow.
