Mr. R. Vaughan, who was oa tho local railway office staff some years a^i-, is spending a holiday here at present. Ho stated- he was very disappointed when ho arrived at finding a church room which had never been consecrated. Ho also spoke on bohaJf of his successor on the condition and position of tho Vicarage. Ho also criticised tho attitudo of some of the women of the parish who on account of things said by tho Vicar, and not approved of by them, stoppsG away from church. Therp wer o 18 births, 2 deaths and 1 marriage in Mangaweka for tho quarter ending 31st March, 1913. Mr. W. Waters, who installed the Taihapo electrical plant for Turnbull and Jones, has been appointed Electrical Engineer for tho Mangaweka Town Board. " Tho first game of bowls on th.o new-ly-formed bowling green at Mangaweka was a pains match between F. Stewart and Essen v. McKinnon and Hobman, tho latter winning by 13 to 11. Another game -was played bet neon H. and 1(. Stewart and McKinnon and Hobman, when the latter again won by o to 3. Tho rink played ' splendidly Iho Rangitikei A. and P. Association s winter show of poultry and roo-3 will I>9 held In the Town Hall on July Bth and 10th. The North Island Poultry Association have allotted the championship award in bantams to tho Taihape Show. Tho first social and dance- of the eeison took place in Spark's Theatre last ?u g- nt rnG Druids Lodge celebrated their fifth anniversary by holding this function. Messrs. W. Crawford and ■8. Trash officiated a-s M.C.'s. Music Avas supplied by Sparks' Orchestra under Mr F._ Sparks. Extras were supplied by Misses J. McCarthy a-id K. Beattie. Milne and Co. suppjied a superior supper.
