BUTTER AND CHEESE SHIPMENTS

THE FISH INDUSTRY.

CHURCH AFFAIRS.

FEILDING LYCEUM PICTURE CO

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

FEILDING. December 15

Mr. Cook, secretary of the Rata and Marton Dairy Compaines, has received advice that the former company's shipment of butter ex Remuera realised an average of 1235. IJ$. per cwt., whilst the Marton cheese realised 61s. 3d. per cwt..

'Mr. J. Dawson's fish business at Marton has increased to such an extent that he has been obliged to put on. an extra cart. Country clients are unquestionably well catered for by this enterprising business man, and there is no reason now why fish should not form part of the menu in any part of Marton or surrounding districts. When in town, quite a number of country folks also- "make Mi*. Dawsoin's xestaurant a rendezvous. Its cleanliness and the quality of the food provided is a splendid recommendation.

Presbyterianism .at Marton has always been alive. The cause from the beginning has teen advocated by able and energetic ministers, and at the present the church work is well organised and helped in every department by the capable pastorship of the Rev. A. Porter. The cause has also been further stimulated lately by the presence in the district of two of the most famed men in the Presbyterian ministry in New Zealand, namely, the Rev. Dr. Gibb and Rev. Professor Hewitson. The latter occupied the pulpit this morning at St. Andrew's, and in the afternoon at Upper Tutaenui. In the evening the Professor motored through to Feilding, where he preached and interested a very large congregation at St. Paul's. With the spring time comes the anniversary of Sunday schools, and Marton Methodists "were favoured with beautiful weather to-day for the annual celebration. The Rev. G. Frost, of Sanson, was the preacher for the day, and his discourses, as usual, were greatly appreciated. The special singing of the children created a great impression, and reflected credit upon both conductor and choristers.
