NEW ZEALAND RECORDS BROKEN

NAPIER 5> December 13. The swimming carnival arranged in connection with the visit of the Australian team ,(Solomons, Hay, and Riddington) was held in the Municipal Baths.last evening, under most favourablo conditions.

Solomons swam exceptionally well, and put up two new records for New Zealand, the 50 yards being covered in 25 l-ssec, the previous record being Fordham's (27sec.V The 100 yards -was traversed in 60 2-ssec, the previous best bei#g Cavill's '61sec. and Champion's 63 2-ssec.

The visitors left by the mail train for Wellington, en route for Christchurch.
