NEW PLYMOUTH v. WAVERLEY
The annual match between Waverley and Nevv Plymouth clubs was played on Thursday on the latter clu'b's greens. Tho weather was ideal, and the match proved most enjoyable. Afternoon tea -wag served by the ladies. New Plymouth won by 12 sets to 7. Results:—
Ladies' Singles—Miss Brewster (New Plymouth) beat Mrs. Wallace (Waverley), 9-1; Miss V. Simpson beat Mrs. Graham, 9-6; Miss D. Simpson ibeat Miss Esse, 9-2; Miss M. Thompson beat Miss Symes, 9-0. Men's Singles.-—Dickie (Waverley) •bea Webster (New Plymouth), 6-4, 6-0 ; C. R. Dickie beat Hickson, 6-0, 6-3; Rutherford lost to Fookes, 1-6, 5-6; Wallace beat Nicholson, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8: Powdrell lost to. Griffiths, 6-4, 5-6, 5-7; Muir lost to Thompson, 6-1, 1-6, 3-6. Ladies' Doubles. —Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Graham (Waverley) 12, beat Misses Brewster and V. Simpson (New Plymouth) 10; Misses Esse and Symes (5) lost to Misses D. Simpson and M. Thomson (12).
Men's Doubles.-—Wallace and Dickie (Waverley) beat Nicholson and Webster (New Plymouth), 6-4, 6-0; Powdrell and Muir lost to Griffiths and Hickson, 4-6-, .6-4, 2-6; Dickie and Rutherford lost to Thompson and Fookes, 1-6, 5-6. Combined Doubles.—Mrs. Graham a,nd Wallace (Waverley) lost to Miss, Brewster and Nicholson (New Ply-' mouth),.: 3-6, 4^6; Mrs. Wallace and Dickie beat Miss V. Simpson and Webster, 6-2,, 6-3; Miss Esse and Muir .(1) lost to Miss. D. Simpson and Griffiths (9); Miss Symes and Powdrell (9) beat Miss M. Thompson and Thompson (6).
