(Per Press Association.) ; . EKEAHUNtA, Dee. 13. At a special meeting of the Eketahuna Ch'amiber of Commerce this morning it was resolved "That the Chtamiber desires to, record a most emphatic rarotest ait the action, of a f©w PahiatuaT business and professional; men at a meeting on Vyednesday evening, as per Press Association report yesterday, endeavouring to create an impression abroad that the Government were favouring Eketahuna -and thajfc the whole facts (favour Pahlauta for the Pongiaroa mail service: such are absolutely contrary to fact, and a grave injustice to the The statement that <a few big landowners on tiie Jiikeftahunia-Ponigaroa route influence the Government is absolutely unwarranted and supremely i-idiculous. The -Lketahuna route will serve more smiall settlers and townships,. and when a short stretch, of road is metalled' the route will (be far superior to PlalhiaJfcua, and offer greater facilities to the Pongaroa and immediate districts. Pongaroa will get close train, connection and an earlier principal mail from Wellington. Bahiatua. .is acting without consulting Pongaroa, which by a foi-g; mfaionty favoured Eketahuna.'"
