WANGANUI IN A VERY GOOD
POSITION
The annual match between the representatives of the Wellington College and Wanganui Collegiate School was I commenced on the local school's ground i yesterday morning. The weather was '' beautifuly fine ti.rougliioutt the dlay, ! inducing a fair number of spectators to witness the progress of the game. The wicket played well, and should not wear over much to-day. School went in first and compiled 142. (Bennett 38, Salmond 23, Bernau 17, Brown not out 15, and Orosse 13). Wellington replied with 119, being 23 behind Wanganui's score. Joplin 41, was the principal scorer. Wanganui again 'went to the wickets, and have made a fine start, having two wickets down for 127. Salmond and Bernau are associated, and they will resume when play is commenced at ten this morning. We regret that pressure on our space compels us to hold over ; the detailed scores until to-morrow. i
