HALF-YEARLY MEETING
The half-yearlling meeting of the: M'arton Junction Brass Biand was held last night, Mr Fred Pumell presiding, and the proceedings were of la most enfthu^
siasttic natuire. The secretary, Mr. P. Stevens, srubmiitted ta report, which dlie- * closed rather 'a, healthy-taspect of affairs. Though the new Bet of instrumehite had been iputr'chased only nine) months ago at la.cost of-£305 i9s 6d, the liability under that head had' been reduiced to £124 14s. The membership now stciod at 24,.■ with the prospect of several neiw members in the ianctnediate futuire. It was .resolved that in view of the fact that Mr Sharp© had ably conducted the .biand for three years 'without remarneratioin, & Ixmus of £10 IQs ibe ipaid to him as a "Christmas box."' Mr Martin, who had provided 'aooammodiation for the practices, was 'ak» donated two guineas. Mr Fred Purnell and Mr Lloyd each donated a guinea, for which thanks were duly returned.
The election of officers resulted in Mr Fred Purneld being unaniiimously ireelected jptesident; Mr A. F. (Shame conductor; Mt >R. McDonald, ibland/m/aster; Mr P.. P. Stevens, hon. secretary: Mr 'Water-worth, treasurer. The oomnmttee were also elected as .follows.— Me^ra -Banton, Bridge", and Martin. The band's next engagement is theMarten ißaoes, followied (by -the Man.^aweka sports. ' »
