AUCKLAND, Dec. 11. To have d.riven a motor car 300 mtles. in a trifle >over tlhree Jiours a;nd a haHf* is «an achiieveonent that stands to. the credit of one mian in the world. That man is Mr C. M. Smith, who is now in Au'cklamd. His name stands in o>fficial files as having in 1909 ibrok€ai a series of records on the Brooklands racing track ffiT dis/baneee of CO, 10,0, 150, 200, a-nH 300 miles, and for the time of one, two, and three hours. Only one of the records, that for 50 miles,, has since been birokenj the time ihlafving been reduced from 32min. Slsecs. to 30min. There Is no opening for highspeed racing in New Zealand, ibut Mr. Smitih is contemplating an aittempfc to pet uip a standard fast .run from Axickland to Wellington shortly.
