AFFAIRS AT HUNTLY.

WORK AGAIN STARTED

AUCKLAND, Oct. 30

A Huntly correspondent telegraphs that work started again this morning •with a slightly increased number of miners, five extra going on at the extended mine and seven at -Ralph's mine. There is a scarcity of truckers, but it is expected that everything will be in full swing within a few days. Nearly a thousand tons of coal were got out yesterday, and the railway yards are beginning to wear their old busy appearance.

A big meeting of the union held last •night caused some anxiety, as it was supposed the men were to reconsider the question of resuming work. It appears, however, that other matters of union business wore discussed. The union officials refuse to give any information,, but apparently try to convey the impression that matters of considerable moment were discussed. All -that so far has leaked out is that Mr J. E. Duncan was appointed permanent Recretary. • The meeting was admittedly pretty lively, individuals expressing their opinions with extraor--dinary frankness and force.
