WANGANUI EAST BOY SCOUTS.
' A very successful concert was given on Friday evening last in the Town Hall in aid of the troop funds of the above. In spite of the terrible weather conditions a good -number were present, and an enjoyable evening was spent. ' The City Band, under Bandmaster Spurdle, braved the unruly elements and did several "good turns'' during the evening for the Scouts. Their combined selections and quartettes wore highly appreciated and very acceptable. Solos were vory ably rendered by Miss Mclntosh and Miss McLean, and other items included a recitation by little Miss Joyce Sewell, two songs hy Mr. Thompson, which were much appreciated; a song by Mr. Nichols, a comic sketch by Mr". Wells; sone, "A Littlo Boy Called Tans," by Scoutmaster Robertson, with chorus by the Scouts; songs from two Scouts, with full chorus; and a pianoforto solo by Miss Sherwin. who ably assisted as accompanist. Exhibitions of nhvsical drill, signalling, and knotting and splicing wero very creditably given by the Scouts, reflecting great credit unon their instructors.
During the interval, a presentation wag mado to District Commander J. Scott.
Aftor the concert a largo assembly gathered to participate in the dance. The hall is evidently appreciated for this purpose, and many inquiries were made as +r> whether the Scouts were organising another before the season dosed.
The officers take this opportunity of thanking all those friends who contributed in any way to tho success of the occasion, not forgetting Mrs. Kondrick and Mrs. Davis, who worked hard in the refreshment department, and Mrs. McEwen, who supplied the dance music.
