RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUES.
POLL TO BE TAKEN AT MARTON
MARTON. Oct. 28
A meeting was held to-night to discuss rating on unimproved values. There was a large attendance, notwithstanding a big counter attraction. The Mayor was in the chair.
The Mayor, Cr. Reid and Messrs. Richardson and Lyon spoke in favour of continuing to rate as at present, i.c, on the annual values.
Messrs Comyns and Lewis also spoke, but there were in favour of rating on the unimproved values, and put their views before the audience.
A resolution in favour of rating on unimproved values was then put to the meeting, but was lost.
The poll will be taken he'-e on Wednesday.
