MURPHY BEATS TRUSCOTT
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "Chronicle.")
AUCKLAND, October 28. Considerable interest was taken in the return boxing match between Denny Murphy (welter-weight champion of N.S.W. and New Zealand), and Lyn Truscott, which took place to-night at the- Town Hall before an attendance of about 2000. When Truscott defeated Muri^v at Wellington about three weeks ago, many good judges thought that Murphy hardly showed his best form. That they were right in that conjecturo was proved to-night, when Murphy out-boxed Truscott in nine rounds of a. 15-rounds contest. The fight was remarkably clean, and each man finished a jmark. Murphy's footwork was remarkablyvgood, and his infighting was superior to that of the Australian;
At the Boxing Carnival to-night the only amateur bout of consequence was between the lightweights G. Menzies (Auckland) and Treweek (Palmerston North). The former won on points.
