TWO NEW ZEALANDERS
Two fortunate heir.s to nearly-half a million each —Mr. John Harrington, of Denniston, '", and "Mr. Barclay Harrington, of Hawera- —are at .present in "Wellington, says the "Dominion;"' j They have just forwarded to New 1 York the documents necessary to enable their solicitors to -seal their claims to the fortune stated. The Messrs Harrington, who are both hotelkeepers, are well known in Wellington, particularly Mr. Barclay Harrington, who was, for a number of years, connected with the management of the Central Hotel. The legacy has been left the Harrington family. by the late Patrick McGuire, of' New York, a brother of the legatees' mother. Mr. McGuire, when a youth, emigrated from Galway, Ireland, to New York, and, through the influence of wealthy relations obtained employment in one of the important railways 50 years ago. Being a shrewd young man, he saw the possibilities of speculations in railway stocks. Speculate he did, and success crowned his efforts to such an extent that, at the time of his death, a year ago, it is stated he left seven million dollars, all invested in valuable railway stocks. The tvhole of the estate,it is understood goes to the Harrington family, "which consists of Mr. John Harrington, of Denniston, Mr. Barclay Harrington, of Hawera, and Mrs. Gow, late of Barrett's Hotel,.. Wellington, and nftw rt 6f Sydney, who will each receive, nearly half a million. The legatees.' solicitors Messrs Hubble and Co., Broadway, New York, discovered the whereabouts of the Harrington family, through the agency of the Union Bank of Australia. . • ;
