THE BOROUGH COUNCIL AND THE NORTHERN LEAGUE. (To the Editor.)

Dear Sir,—l would like to draw the attention of the public to the harsh treatment meted out to the Wanganui Northern League players by the Borough Council last evening. Mr Murch in formed me in the afternoon that the Wanganui Rugby Union had the use of the ground for ten per cent, of the gate and stand takings. * The Soccer club get it for fifteen per cent, of the gate and stands. The sale of work in connection with the Primitive Methodist Church, Dublin Street, is to be opened this afternoon. The ladies of the church have been hard at work preparing the stock for the stalls, and the result of their industry will make a splendid showing. The sale will be opened at 2.30 by Dr. Dunn. For this evening a capital programme has been arranged for the entertainment of patrons.
