COOKS AND WAITERS' DISPUTE.

AN ABORTIVE CONFERENCE.

THE COURT TO DECIDE.

WELLINGTON, July 12. A Conference was held in Wellington to-day by direction of the Arbitration Court in connection with the Cooks' and Waiters' dispute, which, after being ineffectually before the Conciliation Commissioner was heard at a sitting of tho Court here on Jun© 13th last.

Messrs Scott and McCullough represented the Court and Messrs Beveridge (Grand Hotel) and McParland (Hotel Cecil) tho employers. The Union was represented by Mr. E. J. Carey (Vicepresident), and two members of the Committee.

The Court, which had heard full evidence in Wellington, referred the matter to this Conference with a view to an amicable settlement being arrived at. The Conference lasted all day, and as it had failed to come to any satisfactory adjustment of the dispute the Court, which had held over its award pending the present negotiations, will now have to adjudicate in the matte?.
