Tho Imperial Government has approved of tho inscription of the new silver coinage for Australia.
Tho obverse will bear the King's head with the Latin inscription which appears on British coins. On the reverso will bo the Australian coat cf aims.
At Ber.digo, the Governor presented Davies. who heroically rescued a fellow miner in the Goldfields Consolidated mine, with an illuminated address, a cheque for £170, and a gold medal and certificate for bravery. The Netherlands Government is purchasino; 800 Australian horses for military remounts for Java.
In connection with the PostmasterGeneral's inquiries with a view to establishing a wirelers system, it is understood that Admiral Poire has recoinJi'.ended -the Marconi system.
