Mr Newton King reports for the week ending July Ist:— Cattle.—At Douglas* on Monday wcanere made 28s to 295, forward cows £3 os to £3 11s, 18-month steers £9 10s. 2 to 24-year do>. £3 3s to £3 Bs. Sheep—Lambs 8s 3d to 8s lid, cull lambs 4s 6rl. At Stratford on Tuesday cattfe came
forward in good numbers. Bidding was j brisk, nearly-everything bemg done-at the hammer. Fat and forward cows were in jrood demand and cold at increased rates. I quote as follows:— Cattle —Weaneiv; 15s to 29 i, empty heifers £2 2s to £2 15s, in calf do. £3 17s 6d to £4 63, do. sraa 1] £2 13s t> £2 ISs 6d. springing do. £4 12s 6d to £5 10s store cows £2 2> 6d to £3 Is, forward do. £3 5s to £4 0s 6d, fat do. £4 6; to £6 13s, 18 to 20-months stc?r.; £2 13s to £2 18s, 2^-year steers £3 10s 6d, 3-year do. good condition £5, bulls £1 6s" to £3 3&>, pedigree Jersey bull £11.
On Wednesday I held a clearing sale ab TJrenni on account of Mr G. Courtney. The cows were a nice lot but in poor condition, and under the •circumstances roalised gcod prices. Early culvers ma do £6 to £9 ss. Ist di. £3 os to £5 10s. doubtful and empty £2 to £'2 10s. breeding sows £1 11s to £2 6s. boar £1 Is, furniture and sundries sold well.
