DR. BARNARDO'S HOMES

After a most successful series of meetings in Patea, Hawera, Eltham, New Plymouth, Inglewood, Stratford T and ' WaVerley, the Rev. W. J. Mayers, and the Barnardo boys have returned to Wanganui, and to-day and to-morrow . will be holding in the Opera House the last of tlieir week-evening musical meetings. • 'I'he-•'•" Taranaki Daily News " said of a recent gathering: —"Rev. W; J. Mayers'' listened .tq with rapt attention, and the illustrated lecture on the work" was audience was fully sympathetic. Many were amased at the extent of the work, as indicated by the many spacious- edifices devoted to it. The stories of the / children, their old surroundings, and their blossoming lives; incidents of life in the Homes, and the growth of the whole work made a most interesting recital. The programme given by the boys was. nothing short of remarkable in view of the raw material upon which the training must have been commenced, and it reflects great credit upon their instructor, Mr H. Aaron." On Sunday evening Mr Mayers will .conduct his unique after-church service in tho Opera House. Both to-night and to-morrow night lantern pictures will be shown which have delighted vast audiences of 7000 people in the Royal Albert Hall, London. These will depict the wnderful work of child-rescue, show some of the Homes and the happy children } exhibit some remarkable contrasts, a photo of 2000 children rescued" in one year, and the last portrait of Dr. Barnardo. Meetings so attractive and for .such an excellent object ought--to be well patronised.
