NAVY LEAGUE.
(Per Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, July 1
A women's meeting, held this afternoon under the a,nspices of the Ladies' Branch of the Navy League, was a striking testimony to the interest taken in the question of national defence. The ladies of the Navy League evidently have been successful in enlisting the sympathies of all classes in the community, as the gathering was an entirely representative one. The various speeches were listened to with apparent interest, and the sentiments expressed were cordially applauded. A motion was passed in favour of universal military training.
