GISBOItNE, September 1. An elderly man named James Cockery, who has been living with the Maoris at Tearai, was found dead in a whare, yesterday. He had been ailing lately. An inquest will be held thi« afternoon.

William Porter,, a single man, aged 25 years, died suddenly between 7.30 last night and 3.30 this morning on the fishing boat Marora The deceased was out on a -week's fishing cruise with the two Sanford Brothers.
