FIRES.
FATAL FIRE AT INVERCARGILL
(Per Press Association.) iNVERCARGILL, August 31. A fftfur-roomed" house at Makarewa, owned- by~~ Mr Joseph Fraser, aged 66, was destroyed by fire. Mr Fraser, who was an-invalid , was burnt to death. His wife and son were engaged milking in a shed 100 yards away, and the place ivaa in names when they Teached the scene.
This morning an old wooden shop in Tay Street, occupied by Mrs Fox, fruiterer^ and H. (Crawford, bootmaker, was destroyed by fire. The building was owned by Robert JErskin and insured for £100 in the Royal Exchange, and the contents of Fox's shop for £100 in the Sun.
