WELLINGTON, August 31. During the month ending to-day, "63 estates of deceased persons were finally certified for stamp duty. The largest were those of Thos. Armstrong ("Wellington) £32,948, Wm. R. Browne (Canterbury) £27,749, Arthur Shield (Hawke's Bay £21,774, James C. Wilkin (Canterbury) £21,128, Jacob Matthews (Wellington) £20,717. GREYMOUTH, August 81. The Wharf Labourers' Union met yesterday and claimed that as the Arbitration Court had! failed to bring in an award in the farm labourers' cases,- the Government be asked to introduce legislation fixing the minimum wages of farm labourers. The Union also passed a motion of sympathy with Mr. Thorn and approval of Mr. MteOullough's-atti-tude. WELLINGTON, August 31. In reference to the bakers' strike, the Arbitration Court to-day intimated that, aftetf examining the evidence, it considered the Union apparently proposed a strike, therefore it was not proposed to deal with the cases as against the men, but to take direct action against the Union.
