SIRES OF THE SEASON. EUROGLYDON (18) TO STAND THIS SEASON At Taylosrville, and travel the surrounding districts. TTIUROCLYDON is a hard chestnut, PM standing 16£ hands high. His sire, Gorton, was sired in England and foaled in Auckland. Gorton's sire, Thunderbolt, a great racehorse, was got by fcbe great Stockwell. Gorton's dam, Lyra, -was by tlhe English Derby winner Thormaiiby. Lady Gertrude, dam of Eurocyldon, is the dam of many good ones, including Blizzard, Mistral, dam of Pampero, and Mist, dam of Vladimir. Euroclydon was one of New Zealand's greatest racehorses. As a three-year-old he was never beaten. After winning the New Zealand Cup and Derby, he put up an Australasian Tecord in the Canterbury Cup, 2i miles, in 3.57|. As a four-year-old he carried 9.5, and only got beaten by 'half-a-tength. Euroclydon has already sired some good horses, including Happy Home, Brighton, Radium, Lee Side, Betsy, Eurus, and a good many other winners. BY Trenton (18), a eon of Musket (3), out of tlhe great mare Frailty, 6he being a daughter of Gokteborough (13). His dam, Sapphire, who is the dam of Rupert, Marlnella, Pearl, Zelendia, Ballater, Saponite, Blue Fire, who won during the season 1893-4 £2,087 in stakes, Mannlicher, winner of C.J.C. Champagne Stakes, beating Gipsy Grand and Musketry, also won 3rd Challenge' Stakes of £1000, beating Euroclydon and five others, Bijou, St. Conon, Blue Water, and others. Sapphire is by The Drummer (1) oat of Amethyst, by Ambrose (1), a son of the great Touchstone (14). Being got in Australia, and not raced owing to an accident, his opportunities were lost to the turf. He is fhe sire of Lady Lillian, Phaethonitis, Aeronaut, Trentbridge, and others. He is a horse of commanding size and substance, stands 16.2, and measures 9 inches below the knee. Phaethon, the only son of Trenton in the colony, will be at the service of breeders. Early application is necessary, as he is limited to 50 mares at £5 ss. Phaethon will be at Fordell and Turakina on Mondays, Marton (at Mclndoes' stable) on Tuesdays, returning Wednesday to Wanganui for the remainder of the week at Jefferson's stables.
