THE PREMIER'S MEETING.

To the Editor,

Sir, —I notice that the Premier proposes to give one of his peripatetic political performances ait the Opera House on Thursday next, when no doubt the ignorant electors of Wanganui will be told all about the virtues of Seddora and his satellites, and be shown how to vote on election day. Another object of the visit of our great, political paragon to j Wanganui is, I am told, to squash out \ two or three of the four candidates who are standing in the interest of the socalled " Liberal " party which is at present in power. The Premier recognises that the Wanganui seat will be lost to him, and is endeavouring with frantic efforts to give Mr A. D. Willis, stated to 'be his own nominee, a hope by using great persuasion, moral and otherwise, in the direction of anaking the other three candidates retire; Messrs. Gatenby and Hogan, who are peeing as " Independent Liberals," whatever that may that they will not efatnd down in Mr Willis' favour. Mr S^illiams being a strue 'blue Seddonist, it is rumoured will give way at the last moment. Well, we shall see shortly the result of the visit here of the great political candidate" squasher. I would suggest to those who have the management of Thursday j night's performance that the four Liberal candidates should be given seats on I the stage two on each side of the Pre- / mier as follows:—iMr Willis, the favoured political pet, on his leader's right, a>nd (Mr Williams' nest to Mr Willis. On the left Mr R. M.Gatenby, and next to him Mr J. Hogan, lth« young man whose presumptuous candidature seems to be so galling to SeddorusJ supporters here. I sjhould like in pasing to make it plain, sir, that by this placing[the candidates, no sheep or goat distinction is intended. What a aappy party they would look! I commind the suggestion to the Social R-eforn League, Liberal and {Labour Federatica (with or without a charter), Labour league, or whateverSeddonisit organsation it is that is running Thursday nght's show. Another suggestion I wortd make, in the event of the aibove beiig carried out, is that the chair ailoted to Mr Willis be plainly labelled so that he cannot make the " mistake" he die in the House, and get on the wrong ade. Before concluding, sir, I trust thit the above suggestions or anything cmbained in this letter do not Infringe my of the gagging acts lately passed toy the sapient sycophantic school of politicians.—l am, etc.. LOOKING FORWARD.
