A SERIOUS ASSAULT

BLENHEIM, SeptemW#v A man named Patrick O'Driscoll was taken to the hospital late: last .Bight with a severe wound in the'head-and. a fractured skull, supposed to .be the result of an assault committed; ;io Grovo r^ad, near the centre, of the town. A yoang man named- Joseph Hoben Byrne was arrested to-day arid charged with assaulting <yDfiscbll^;with it-tent to rob.: A remand was grafted for eight days, pending the recovery or otherwise of the injured nian. O'Driscoll had been drinking, a charge of drunknenness being maae against him before the moi'e serious case was.called on, and a conviction being recorded.
