THERMAL ACTIVITY.
A NEW GEYSER

A new geyser broke out in the vicinity of Ohinemutu.'this afternoon, and sent mud and water to a height of 20 to 60 feet. The geyser is in close proximity to Tarawera' It was a hot water geyser, and had previously • been used as a cookittig hole by the Maoris. The geyser has a mouth about 30 feet square. It playecl throughout the afternoon. All pools at Ohinemutu and Whakarewarewa have been exceedingly activo for some days.
