ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

HASTINGS, July 12. At the inquest on a child named Sudfedt, five months old, who was found dead in bed on Sunday morning at Kereru, a verdict was given that deceased died from rupture of the stomach, caused by sudden pressure, or fermentation of the contents of the stomach.
DUNEDIN, July 12. •-' The scow Echo arrived last night from Kaipara. She reports that Andrew Grey, one of the crew, fell overboard in a heavy sea when 50 miles from Kaipara. Captain Olsen hove to and put out. a boat, but all efforts to find Grey wero unsuccessful. The boat was almost smashed before returning. Deceased was 23 years of age, unmarried, and n nativo of Auckland.
CRRISTCHURGH, July 12. A man named John Southron, 63 jeara of age, died suddenly in a New Brighton tram car about noon to-day. Hy had been to town to consult a medical man, who is prepared to give a certificate as to the cause of death.
Yesterday Arthur Chapman, aged 23, accidentally shot himself dead white hare shootjhgjn the Ohoka swamp. At the inquest held at Kaiapoi to-day on young Chapman, the jury returned a verdict that death, by a gunshot, was accidental.
