WANGANUI SCHOOL COMMITTEE

The usual monthly meeting of the Wanganui School Committee was held in the District .High School on Monday night. Present: Messrs. W. Bruce (chairman), A. Thompson, J. R. Johns, and Revs. R. M. Ryburn and A. Dewdrvey. MINUTES The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. BANE BOOK—The Bank book showed r.credit balance of £57 6s. sd. Burnett supplied a balance-sheet re the /lato Cadet' Camp, for which ii'^i collected £26 to enable the boys to go into camp. It was unanimously decided to thank Mr. Burnett. SCHOOL REPORTS—The monthly reports "■ School,' 212 •■ Queen's^ark, 316; ' SWIMMING.—Mr. Payne, headmaster of the Queen's Park School, said ho would like to see the proceeds of the concert he was about to hold devoted to tho establishment of swimming classes and the improvement of the Queen's Park School ground. He felt confident tho school would be in a position to offer the Borough Council a sum for tho exclusive use of the Baths on four afternoons per week.—The committee decided to approach the "Borough Council with regard to tho Baths. CONCERT RETURNS—The total proceeds of the lato concert amounted to £24, and about £14 of this amount would be used towards the Cadets' funds and the school grounds. TECHNICAL SCHOOL COMMITTEE.—The Rev. Ryburn was appointed tho committee's representative on the Technical School Committee, vice Mr. Bruce. GROUNDS IMPROVEMENT. — Mr. J. Cannons, Borough Gardener, submitted an estimate of £103 12s. for improvements to the^Queen's Park School. It was resolved to thank Mr. Cannons for his estimate, and to hold the matter over pending a conference with the Borough Council. PADDOCKING.—The matter of securing paddocking for horses during improvement operations on the District High School grounds was leferred to the Grounds Committee.
