ADDINGTON MARKET.

Per Press Associatiion.

CHRISTCHURCH, November 30

Entries of sheep <at Addington were very small, and of cattle below the average, but there was a large yarding of pigs. The attendance was moderate. Fat Cattle.—The entry/of 188 head proved sufficient for requirements, and previous nates-were .barely upheld. Local steers sold at £6 10s to £10 12s 6d, heifers at £ 5 17s 6d to £9 ss, and cows at £5 17s 6d to £8 2s 6d—being at the rate of 22s to 26s for medium to prime beef.

Fat Calves.—There was a large entry. Good vealers sold fairly well, but others were almost unsaleable. Prices ranged from 46s to 60s.

■Store cattle.—A heavy entry of all descriptions came, forward. Well fed forward steers found buyers at late rates, but there was no spirit in the demand. Stock of poor breeding and cond'tion scarcely elicited a bid. . Dairy cows. —There was a fair yarding in number, but the general quality .was very poor.* A pure 'Ayrshire.cow sold' at £8 15s, a few useful cows at £5 10s to £7, and old and inferior at £3 to £5.

Fat Sheep.—The entry was probably the smallest that has been known at this t,season of iho year, and, being insufficient, for butchers' 'requirements, there wa.3 a,n animated saie and pricea were far above tho.se lately current, easing considerably, however, towards the close of one sale. Exporters were, of pourse, completely outbid. ; Prices were as follows:—rWoolly .sheep: ewes" 22s 6d toi 275, merino wethers 21s 6d to 22s 6d. Shorn sheep.:-wethers 20s Id to 23s 9d, ewes" (heavy weights) 21s' to 25s Tod, ,'dthers 15s to 20s. : ';-'":. '■'■■ ; '

r Fat lambs.-yThere was a-gbod entry ■in both number arid quality, and, with keen competition by both butchers and exporters, values were fully maintained. Prime pens sold at 18s to 20s 6d, others 15s 9d to 17s 9d.

Store Sheep.—There was not a large entry, but competition was brisk, especially for forward iiines, and a good sale ■resulted. A line of 2501 wethers was sold at 19.s 6d, the buyer drafting . a large number into the fat pens, where they isold at 22.3 and 21s 6d. 124 mixed wethers sold at 17s 3d. 352 2tooth wethers at 16s 6d, 94 wethers and ewes <afc 16s 9d. 184 two and four-tooth ■ewes at 16s lid, and ewes and lambs Call counted)— 96 at 13s lOd, 354 at 13s 6d and 84 at 12s 2d.

Pigs.—A moderate supply of fat pigs met a rather slow sale, for baconers at ■easier rates, while porkers made recent values. There was a large yarding of stores, which sold well. Baco'ners made 45s to 575. equal to 4d to 4^ per lb • porkers 32s to 40s, equal to 5d to 5J,d per lb.; large stores 25s to 32s 6d; medium 18s to 24s Od, and small 10s to 14*3.
