PENALTY OF AVOIRDUPOIS.
A stout lady named Mrfle. Prudhomimie entered the telephone call-box in her shop at Lyons to ring up her banker. She became wedged in the box, aaid as her cries could mo* be heard in the street through the sound-proof door, was compelled to explain hen predicament over the telephone. . She was released in an exhausted condition an hour later.
