The censure division was taken at five o'clock this- moraiing. Mr. Camither's motion was rejected by 42 to 39.
After a speech by Mr. McGowan, Leader of the Labour party, wherein he justir fied the action of the Attorney-General as in conformity with the basic principle*? of trial by jury, the result was a-foregone conclusion. The party voted solid with the Government.

Instead of a large majority being obtained, the Government had a uaiTow escape of defeat. The majority was onty one, a Labour caucus deciding to vote against the motion. • Mr. Gorinley's amendment, which provided that the functions now exercised by the Attorney-General should only be exercised by the Executive Council, was.a Government device to capture the country party. It was ruled out or order: The party went to pieces when the division came.
