MELBOURNE, October 2. Latest returns gitvje the Government 66, Opposition 15, and Labour 14 seats.

The Government majority of three before the ejection will be increased to 35 or 37. The Labour party gained three seats. The feature of the election was the alliance of the civil servants and the Labour party. The alliance waged a most determined fight to stave off threatened retrenchment. The result! is seen in the defeat of several Ministerial candidates. The metropolitan constituencies and the country voted almost unanimously for the Government.

Mr. Williams, es-Minister of Railways, was defeated.
