Sir, —The "writer of the leading article iq to-night's "Herald" sayj_: "Tne river is the King's highway, and thereioie exempted from such restrictions as those sought to be imposed by the Wanganui Licensinig Comnnittee." The roads iin Clutha are the King's highways. Would he therefore say that it would not be a breach of the law for a person to take intoxicating drink in a cart ajtong thes-.e roada and sell on the road to all and sundry?—l am, etc., V.
