THE HON MR CARROLL

(Per Press Association.) NAPIER, August 26. The Hon. James Uuroll,' Native Minister, arrived from Gisborne this morning. He addressed a Maori meting at Hast-ino-s in connection with a levy made by the local Maori Council of 2s per head foil expenses of administration, to Vhch some of the natives objected. The Native Minister explained that this levy was to cover the expenses of sanitation in.Maori pahs. The natives expressed theniiselv.es : satisfied with the explanation, and agree to pay the levy. The Minister leaves for Wellington by express train to-morrow.
