FANCY DRESS BALL

A Avell-attended meeting -of the general committee waa held last evening in the Borough Council Chambers, when the following business was transacted —Ball to be opened by a grand tableau of the dances, to be arranged by Mr Battle; limelight effects by the operator of the Ada Delroy Company. After the tableau a grand march will take place, and dancing will commence at 8.45 p.m. It was reported that a flashlight photo, of the stage will be taken, which should be a great success. The Floor Committee reported that operations had already been commenced with the stage floor, and that dancers would have nothing to complain of in that respect. It was decided that the Mayors room, be used as a card room, and that the dressing rooms on the stage be for ladies, and the supper will be laid in the Borough, Council Chamber. Very satisfactory reports were received as to the sale of tickets, and a* list of about 205 poster dresses was handed in by the Poster Committee.

There can be no doubt as to the success of the ball—in fact, this is assured—the opinion of those present being that it will be a brilliant success.

Mr Remington notified tho fact that 13 fancy dresses would arrive from Napier to-morrow, which could be hired at a small sum. These dresses have been kindly lent by Messrs M. and E. Eagleton, of Napier, to tho committee. The meeting adjourned till Monday next at the same time and place.
