LICENSING CASE

The quarterly meeting of the Napier licensing committee was held to-day. The police reported unfa.voura.bly on the manner in which the Caledonian Hotel had been conducted during the last quarter. Complaints were made of frequent rows in the hotel, a.nd on the. 16th. of February ■after mid-night a fight took place, the police having to be called in to put a stop to the disturbance. It was shewn that since then a comuetent manager had been put in, and hotel was now most satisfactorily conducted. After considering the police report, the committee were of opinion that tho license must be transferred within one month.
