Thornsycroft, after a running fight lasting two days, galloped throutrh and dispersed eight hundred of Hertzog's commando. He captured a quantity of jewellery and other loot. Captain J.j Dallimove, -with fifteen of the Victorian Imperial Bushmen, surrounded thirty Boers on Friday and captured them' all.

Three. Boers murdered a native who was tke p'rpcipal witness against twenty prisoners indicted for treason at Waterkloof.

Major-Gjeneral Hickman on tlie 26th inflicted losses on De Wet in the vicinity of gaud Drift. Two Boers were drowned there in attempting to cross the river, and the attempt was abandoned.

Plumer pursued- De Wet eastwards. His troopa were hurried via Hanover Road to ColesTwrg to try and intercept De Wet's flight. Desultory skirmishing took place at various points in the directipn of Hamelfontein Haig.
