TROOPER J. R. ORFORD.
A private letter received in town yesterday, dated .Albany, April 14th, contains a very complimentary reference to Trooper J. R. Orford. The -.writer says:— "You -would laugh if you could for 'a moment have a look at Trooper J. ' R. Orford. He goes about looking like a pirate king and is, I think, without question the hardest worker on the ship. He is looked up to by all his mates, and is instilling a good spirit into his fellow troopers. I feel certain he will win his spurs in his. first action." And there isn't boy in the Collegiate School, or any of his many friends, but will be glad to hear of his early promotion. . Orford is in every sense of the word a "white man," and "will make his mark wherever he goes.
