LANGUAGE ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,— lii your report of the Old Boys I v. T.Y. M.I. match on Saturday last you -.tate thai "bad language was rather freely indulged in by the players." The above statement reflects upon me as captain of ono of lhe teams, in that if bad languacre were used by a member of my team, I ought to have prevented its recurrence. If indeed it did occur it was certain'y not in my bearing, and it could not possibly have been used frequently without my bearing it. In leferencc to the "talking," that there was an unnecessary escape of "gas" I freely admit! but, as far as I could judge, it was not of a lyddite nature. Trusting that your reporter will use more discretion in tho future. — I am, etc., J. POWNALL, Captain, Old Boys.
