HUNTERVILLE NOTES
I I (FllOll OUII Ow.V CoiIUESI'OXIIKN'T.) HUNTERVILLE, Monday. It is rumoured that fresh informations have been laid (this time by the police) against those alleged to be concerned in r the breaking into of the premises at Taihape, of Mr. John Johnston, wine and spirit merchant, about Christmas time last . year. It seems that the J. P. who originally had the case before him for remand I exceeded the time allowed by some weeks, I so that the original complaints had lo be ! dismissed. The cases are to be heard on Wednesday, but as there is now only one resident J. P., and he says he will not be forced into perpetual duty on the Bench, it is doubtful if two country Justices will be in attendance. When' will the Justice Department appoint another two or three i J.P.'s to lake the place of those who have j resigned, or removed out of the district. Matters political are very active. Mr. Van Asch, whose name has appeared in the Press as a possible aspirant for the Patea seat, was here on Saturday, interviewing electors, but as this portion of the electorate seems determined to give almost a block vote for Mr. Remington at next election, as being a local man and popular with all classes, quite irrespective of political creed, it would seem as if the light must be once again between Messrs. Hutchison and Remington, and, if common report goes for aiiyiliiiig, Mr. Hutchison will have to fight for his seat harder than ever he has had to, as Mr. Remington, though hard to move, is a great."sticker " when once he gets going, and I hear he is personally going to start organising up the coast at an early date, having already completed that work in this district. .
