Auckland, March 13, At a meeting of owners of coasting steamers it was decided to petition tho Governor against any alteration in respect of steamers plyiDg with extended limits, as it entailed great expense. A deputation of the Women's Political League waited on the Auckland branch of th 3 New Zoaland Educational Institute wilh reference to the equalisation of salaries of male and female teachers. The Institute agreed to consider the matter. Thomas Fisher, farmer, of Fairburn, has been adjudged a bankrupt upon the potition of Miss Wrigloy in connection with tjie libel action in wh'ch she was plaintiff and bankrupt the defendant, and which was known as the Fairburn school caso. Tho liabilities are £305 and aEBdIB \£2.
