LICENSING ELECTIONS.
(Pea Press Association.) Wellington, Match 27. The poll in Otafei was ineffective. The only temperance candidate was at the bottom of the list. It is understood that the Wellington Committee only intend to reduce the houses by three or four. A scrutiny of the suburban poll shows that with the informal rotes addad the poll is effective m favour of reduction. A scrutiny of the city poll has been expected the last three days. It is already found, however, that Smith, one of the temperance candidates elected, who was eighth on the list, should be credited with 48 more votes, and this reduces the chance of his being displaced. Waihbmo, March 27. The Temp9rance Committee has been olected. The local option poll will probably be ineffective.
