, c CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. RACES POSTPONED. [Peii United Pruss Asdociation.] Picton, March 2fi. The annual Championship Regatta, under the auspices of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, wub commenced to-day, but, owing to the un- ; favourable weather, the championship • events had to ba postponed. A strong ; wind blew all day, raising a lumpy sea, ' and only the races foe the heavier class of boats could be got off. There was a very large attendance of the public, j several thousands of people coming from ! Blenheim by excursion trains. The fol- j lowing are the results of the races decided to-day:— • Junior Batswing Fours. Prizes, .£8 and < £2. 1 Blenheim Rowing Club 1 | Star Boating Club (Wellington) ... ? | Piiton Rowing Club 3 { Won easily by a dozen lengths. The i Wellington Club's crow swamped before ( the start. i Junioji Sculi.s, id akiffs. Prize, (.;. Poll (Wellington Rowing Club) ... 1 ( A. Markman (Picton Rowing Club) 2 ] Won by two lengths.
