CALEDONIAN SUCITY'S CONCERT.

' ; The OddfellowB 1 Hall was packed to , the doors last night, and numbors were / nnable to obtain admission to the Cale- '• donian Society's annual concert I£W Orchestral Club, under the conductorshfp of Mr J. Cricbton, opened the proceedings with a choice selection, which proclaims - its authorship to those whose land is where the bonny Leather blooms. It was\ played in perfect accord, by careful and well-trained instrumentalists. Mis Watt sang very sweetly "A Quid New Year to , one and a' " and " The Cameron Men," for which she was encored. Miss Laud was heard to advantage in " Where hath Scotland found her Fame," as was also Mr Wylie in his rendering of " Blue Bonnets." Vociferous applause greeted • Mr J. Alexander for his song " lak y'r • Auld Cloak," and a cleverly executed Highland Fling and Sword Uance were • performed by Messrs Stewart and MoGregor. One of the pleasantoßt items on tho programme was the " Poresome Eeol," by the Misses Boss and Murray and Masterß Piper and McGregor. The movements were cone through in excellent style, and so captivated the audience that a re-demand bud to be submitted to, Miss Roberbs sang '■ Will ye no come back again" and '■' Bonnie Hills of Scotland "most agreeably, and "Kothsay" , by Miss Millar was one of the beat things'^ of the evening. Mr Aitfeen was encored^ for his well rendered " Standard on tha Braes o' Mar." The applause so lavishly bestowed on Mrs Craig for her well-given item " Within n Mile o' Edinboro 1 Town." recalled the same la 2y for " Bobra A dair," which was received in the same manner as its predecossor. The duet," Banks and ■•> Braes" by Misses Millar and Koberta was most acceptably received. The "Scotch Beel" was then rendered by Messrs Stowart, McGregor (B) and Boss, who had to repeat their performance. Mr Campbell assisted greatly by his playing on tho bagpipes at various ;imes throughout the performance. During iho evening Mrs J. Alexander presented tho winners at the sports with heir pnze3 Mr VVatt, the energetic Secretary of the Society, is to be complimented on the excellence of the .programme provided, and commendation is due to all those who so ably assisted to make it a great success.
