Stovonaon, T. M. Copo ' land, F. M. Spurdle, T. D. Cummins, Jas. Aitkon, D. McLollan, Jas. McGregor, J. B. Murray, AY. Bitchie, J. Twase, and J. Watt. Starters : G. Marshall and J. MjNaught. Timokooper : Hugh Black. Handicapper: T. M. Copeland. Treasurer and Secretary : James Watt. j The Wanganui Caledonian Society have to score another success 01 their eleventh annuul meeting, whfch took placo yesterday in Victoria Park. Tho weather was splendid, the grounds were in perfect order, and the public attended in large numbers. The Committee and Judges worked with a will, and the whole of the 26 evonts were got off by a quarter to 6 o'clock. The entries for the different events were unusually large and the acceptances in keeping with samo. The meeting was unique as tar as local records in time were concerned, the principal events being negotiated in extraordinary short time. There were a number of strangors among the competitors, several hailiug from Australia, and these latter managed to tako the best prizes. The Committee arranged for the bicycle race, though not on tho programme, and this event proved one of the most attractive of the day. Another extra event was the Scotch Keel performed by two little girls and boya in couples, who went through tnis favourite dance with great grace, A collection wbb made by Mr Lett for the performers, with the result that each of the quartette got a prize of Gs. During the day the booths were beseiged by the hungry and thirsty, and Messrs Tasker (liquids) and Duatin (solids) did a roariDg trade. All the arrangements were splendidly carried out. and every credit is due to the Committee, and Secretary especially. One great improvement on last year was to be noticed, and that was an awning over the dancinif platform, so that the performers were protected from the Eun— this was an idea of Mr T. Cupeland's. Thn results of the different events proved tl c handicapping ,to be good, and Mr Copeland must be eamplimentod on tho results of his efforts in this disection. Now, there is only one fault to find, and that was the permitting of certain performers to appear in anything but delicate costume. There were two of the principal competitors whose attire was such as should not have been tolerated. The following are the result) of the different events :— Boys' Race Handicap (Boys under 14), 220 yds. —let prize, £1 ; 2nd, 10s. Ist Heat. Webster 1 Loftus 2 Jarrett 3 2nd Heat.
