PALMERSTON ITEMS.
Palmbhston, January 18. The police arrested W. Pilkiugtou Harris this morning on a charge of false pretences preferred by Stewart, Dawson und Co., jewellers, Queen streot, Auckland. A further charge! is impending for securing a pasaago from Auckland to Now Plymouth by moans of a valueless chequo. When arrested he had a railway tiekot to New Plymouth, 110 was only secured as tho train was leaving,
