Tho estimates, which will piobahly be presented to Parliament to-morrow, have been reduced by £300,000 as compared with the previous year. This will necessitate the dismissal of 1100 Civil servants. The reduction is specially prominent in the Defence Department, and one or two companies are to be dispensed with altogether.
