Speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Eosebery said the Government werefully sensible as to the grave importance; of the independence and integrity of Siam which Prance profes3fld to respect. ; Lord Eosebery, in reply to a question, stated that complete arrangements had been made for the protection ef British residents in Bangkok, and more ship 3 would be available if necessary. Paris, July 18. The Siamese fort 3 sank the French merchant vessel because she was piloting a warship up the Menam River. Le Figaro says the French Colonial Office will demand the concession of the entire left bank of the Mekong Elver, and the provinces of Batteinbaug and &.ngkor, and also payment o£ an indemnity to the relatives of the victims of the recent massacre by Siamese. The Paris newspapers comment furiously on the report that a French vessel hai been sunk by the Siamese, and the statement that England is supporting Siam is also causing a great amount of angry critic:sm. Later. The Chamber of Deputies has unanimously carried a resolution that tbe Government should take necessary measures to make the rights of France respected in Siam.
